After more than eleven years Cartoon Networks action block Toonami has ended...

This is truly sad news especially for me who grew up on Toonami in my younger days and during its golden times. If it wasn't for Toonami my interest in anime/manga would never have been what it is today. All the famous titles listed I have either seen or am familiar with. It really is sad to see it go and what it (along with Cartoon Network) has now become and not return to its former glory days.

I still remember getting off the bus and rushing back home to get a snack, turn on the T.V. to channel 43 and started to watch weekdays while doing my homework along the way, so I could go outside to play after I was done. The lineup was like Robotech, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball (Z), Tenchi Muyo, Gundam, Pokemon, Zoids, Batman & Superman, Transformers, G-Force and other stuff I can't remember.

Those days were just so fucking epic! I remember when Giant Robot Week aired and I fell in love with mecha anime. They used to show Gigantor, NGE, Robotech, Voltron, Megas XLR, and Nadesico! That one movie The Iron Giant which was freaking awesome! Oh and then when Midnight Run started with the uncut versions of the anime, and TOM was all sleek and bad ass looking! That's what started me on the Gundam series when I'd stay up and watch it late at night hiding from my parents downstairs in the living room all close to the T.V. screen with the volume real low so I wouldn't get caught.

It was a golden era really. Some of my greatest memories can be brought back to watching it. It was more than just about the shows. It was the feeling of the action block that was really good. Toonami used to be so cool with TOM and Sara. They had those awesome promos and even did game reviews. The little stunts they pulled with Total Immersion Effects Lockdown and Trapped in Hyperspace whenever the intruder came in. God I missed those times....

These three videos here are one of my most cherished memories of Toonami. Every time I watch them I just get this weird nostalgic feeling where I reminiscence back on my childhood and am flooded with all sorts of different emotions. I guess it shows just how much of an impact it had on my life to still be able to do that to me after all these years. I will never forgot it as I continue to get older and on to adulthood.

Toonami Dreams <--- Epic video ALMOST ANY fan has to see!
Advanced Robotics <--- Another promo I simply loved. This is what got me into mecha. Toonami Midnight Run <--- I stayed up late on weeknights just to watch it.

Here is TOM-4's final departing message.
I found it quite interesting with the 'Bang' comment right at the end (a reference to one of the greatest animes Cowboy Bepbop) which I believe Steve Blum the voice actor of both Spike and TOM himself might have added. It was really a touching moment to say the least.

Goodbye TOM and The Ghost Planet Space Ship Absolution. You will forever be missed and remembered in my heart.

The Absolution has set its last sale. I'm proud to say that I have watched it since its first incarnation on March 17 1997 to its final showing on September 20, 2008.
