Dawn of a New Era!
Mood: Patriotic (Proud dare I say?)
Music: Nickelback - If everyone cared
FUCK YEAH OBAMA/BIDEN 08!! HOPE AND CHANGE HAVE COME TO SAVE AMERICA! History has been made! I voted in an election tha will be seen as a forever changing moment not in American politics, but the ENTIRE world itself. Last night and today have been times that will forever be embedded into my memory and will be foretold to my future children as I told them I was alive to witness this historic event that forever changed America as we know it. Where just over forty years ago, minorities didn't even have equal rights, but can now hold the highest office in the country. Truly America is the Land of the Free. United we stand, but divided we fall. The land of opportunity and where the true American Dream is possible for any hardworking person that has a dream that they want to achieve.
This election is symbolic of a pendulum. In 2000 when Bush took over it was positioned to the far right. Now after 8 unpopular years of Bush's presidency (who all republicans get blamed for and McCain is proscribed to be the second coming of Bush), two unpopular wars, and the current economic crisis all around the world, has all caused the pendulum to swing back to the left and given Obama some major momentum to be leading in the polls and eventually win the election!
Stepping away from the political scheme, I have to say that in order to bring this country back to the former great nation it was, we as people have to be united. We have now elected a leader who is aware of the tough challenges that lie ahead for all of us, and is determined to bring us out of this economic crisis and restore the United States which has once again has shown it has a unique and remarkable ability to re-invent itself and truly embrace change as our Founding Fathers had hoped for with the creation of the Constitution over 200 years ago.
I like how in his speech he didn't refer to only himself when bringing change, but using words such as "you, us, and we" to show that it will have to be a combined effort with all of us to help bring America back on the right track. Obama's election was America redeeming herself. Every once in a while, she rights a wrong and so it was last night in gigantic proportions. Not only did he win, he set new standards in the annuals of American politics. To be sure, the challenge is monumental but just for the moment, at least, he represents all that is possible in the Land of the Free. Never has a country needed a new ground breaking direction and the vision to lead it then today and I'm glad he has stepped up to the task and is confident in handling it.
I can say that after eight years, I'm proud to call myself an American once again.
GO RED WHITE AND BLUE! =DDD
